Welcome to the website of the Polish American Pulaski Association, Inc. in sunny Holiday, Florida. The club was founded in 1978. The club offers bingo on Mondays at 11 am and Tuesdays at 5 pm. Sunday dinners are served from 1:30 pm to 3 pm (no Sunday dinners during June, July & August) followed by dancing to top Polish/American bands until 6 pm. Friday dinners are held year-round from 4:30 pm to 6:00 pm followed by American-style dancing until 8:30 pm.  Also appearing at the club are some of the top polka bands from around the country. Special events are held regularly on Saturdays and the hall is available for rentals. You do not have to be of Polish descent to join our fine club. I encourage you to browse our website and see for yourself our fine facilities and activities.

Honoring Our Polish Heritage

On May 3rd, we celebrate the 1791 Constitution of Poland. This constitution was modeled after the American 1776 constitution and was a first for Europe as it guaranteed such freedoms as: right to worship freely, freedom to travel and so many other elements adopted from the American constitution. To the dismay of the Polish people, the constitution was short-lived as the Powers of Russia, Prussia and Austria invaded Poland and divided it up amongst themselves. The Polish nation did not die as in the hearts of every Pole remained a yearning to once again be free. The children were taught in secret the language, customs and what it meant to be Polish. For over 170 years, Poland ceased to exist on the map of Europe but never ceased to exist in the hearts of her people. Poland regained her place among the countries of the world after WW1. Again, after the start of WW2 and again under the communists, this freedom was lost. With the Solidarity Trade Union leading the way and with the spiritual leadership of the Polish Pope, John Paul the Great, Poland regained her freedom in 1989. With that freedom, it wasn't long before communism fell throughout Europe. Many celebrations and parades are held by Poles throughout the world including here in the United States. Poles and Polish-Americans proudly display the white and red colors of the Polish Flag. One of the largest celebrations in America is held in Chicago where residing are more Poles and people of Polish descent numbering over 1,000,000, second only to Warsaw, Poland. Similar parades are held in Milwaukee, Cleveland, New York and wherever there exists a Polish Community. In the 11 Polish and Polish-American clubs here on the west coast of Florida, all will be toasting the Constitution of 1791.

To Those That Participated

Our TAX and REVERSE RAFFLE PARTY was successful and a huge hall full of guests enjoyed a great Prime Rib/Chicken Cordon Bleu dinner and great Country Music by "Nite Flight". Thanks to those members that participated as well as many members of the German/American Social Club, the Marine Corps Detachment of New Port Richey and the many guests, some for the first time, that enjoyed our fine club. Thanks also to Walt and his bar staff and all the kitchen personnel under the direction of our Chef Tom.

President's Message

Dear Members,

Our season is winding down fast. As has been our practice, we will close on Sundays for the summer. Our last Sunday dinner and dancing will be May 19, 2013. Sunday's club will re-open on Sunday, September 22, 2013. WE WILL CONTINUE OUR FRIDAY NIGHT DINNERS AND DANCING. Throughout the summer we will host special events during June, July and August. A special "Summer News Brief" will be sent out to give you all the info.

1st VP Dave Januchowski offered some great dinner/shows this season and he's already working on next season's line-up. Our rentals were better than what we expected and one of the big ones was the Greek/American Club from Tarpon Springs which filled our hall to capacity at 360 people. Our Chef Tom did the cooking and we served the guests a great sit-down dinner. We hired some help for this and the young people that worked did a great job serving. (Everyone was served in 1 hour and 15 minutes.) Trustee Walt led the bar staff consisting of Sue and James.

Besides our Chef Tom, Big Dave was in the kitchen, Joan Thompson the PCC VP, 1st VP Dave, 2nd VP Dennis, my wife Ursula, daughter Tanya, daughter-in-law Kim and Will, Jason, Nina, Kurt, Kyle, Monica and Blanche all worked this evening. Other rentals included the Marine Corps Ball, UAW Christmas Party and a few private affairs.

You may still re-new your dues and be re-instated as a member so if you have not sent in your dues for 2013 please do so now and your card will be sent to you. Remember, member discounts are available only to those holding a valid current card. Membership cards are checked at the front door.

Our ice machine went kaput so we had no choice but to get another one. The cost was somewhat crazy so we are renting one with the option to buy and in 2 years we will own the machine. Thanks to Treasurer Tom for getting us this deal. This summer we will have the carpets cleaned and we will finish the markings in the parking lot.

Our parade of "up-North" bands was just great. The crowds that came out were unbelievable and full of pep. The dance floor was never empty. We will try to add to the schedule next season. For those that know the Wrubel's, Steve and Vicky, they are now back in Michigan closer to family. They are the longest married couple in the US and only one other couple in England is married longer. Steve and Vicky will celebrate 84 years in September. STO LAT !!!

Elections will be held in April and if you plan to run for an office please submit your name in writing to Joan Thompson of the PCC. In closing, we had a good year. Like all clubs, we all want members. As of this writing we were a little over 500 but would still like to see a lot more new members. Dues are still only $20.00 for a single and $35.00 for a couple plus all the discounts a member receives. Talk to your friends and neighbors, bring them to our club and we are pretty sure they too will want to join our fine club.

The next newsletter will come out in late summer so to those members that go back North for awhile, stay safe and we look forward to seeing you next season. For all those that stay here year-round, don't forget to visit often.

Ernie Stetz (Stec), President
